Terms of Service
1. Agreement
By accessing qbeat.ai or creating an account, you agree to these Terms. If you don’t agree, don’t use the service. Our Privacy Policy is incorporated by reference.
2. The service
Qbeat aggregates publicly available news, groups related articles into stories, and presents them as topic-based feeds. Registered users can create their own topics and subscribe to topics others have made public.
The service is provided free of charge. We may change, limit, suspend, or discontinue any part of it at any time, with or without notice.
3. Eligibility and accounts
You must be at least 16 years old. You must provide a valid email address and keep it current — it’s how we reach you for verification, password resets, and account notices.
You are responsible for your account credentials and for everything done through your account. Notify us promptly at [email protected] if you believe your account has been compromised. One person, one account; don’t create accounts programmatically or share credentials.
4. Your content
You keep ownership of the topics, descriptions, source lists, configuration, and feedback you create.
You grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to store, process, and display that content solely to operate the service. If you make a topic public, that license extends to displaying it to other users and, if we feature it, to visitors who aren’t signed in. The license ends when you delete the content, except for backups that have not yet rotated out.
You represent that your content doesn’t infringe anyone’s rights and doesn’t violate Section 5.
5. Acceptable use
You may not use the service to:
- Target or harass a private individual. Creating a topic to monitor, compile information about, or track a specific non-public person is prohibited outright, whether or not the sources are public.
- Promote violence, terrorism, or illegal activity, or create topics designed to aggregate such material
- Infringe copyright, trademark, or other rights
- Impersonate another person or misrepresent your affiliation
- Circumvent rate limits, quotas, or access controls; probe or test our security without written permission
- Scrape, crawl, or bulk-download qbeat.ai, or use automated means to create accounts or topics
- Configure topics to direct traffic at sources in a way that burdens them, or to crawl sources that have asked not to be crawled
- Resell or commercially redistribute output from the service without written permission
- Interfere with the service’s operation or another user’s use of it
6. Topic creation and costs
Creating a topic causes us to incur real third-party costs for crawling and language model processing. We may, at any time and without notice:
- Impose limits on how many topics an account may create, or how often
- Reduce the refresh frequency of any topic
- Pause or delete topics that consume disproportionate resources, produce little output, or duplicate an existing public topic
- Pause all user-created topics if operating costs exceed our budget
We’ll try to give notice where practical, but cost control may require acting first.
7. Public topics and moderation
You may submit a topic to be listed publicly. Whether to list it is entirely at our discretion. We are under no obligation to approve any submission, to explain a decision, or to provide an appeal.
If your topic is made public:
- You keep control of it. You continue to configure and tune it.
- We may override any setting. Where we do, the change is visible to you on your topic’s settings page and can be reversed by us.
- We may revoke public status at any time, for any reason, returning the topic to private.
- Public and featured are different. Public means other signed-in users can find and subscribe to your topic. Whether a topic appears on our home page for signed-out visitors is a separate editorial decision that remains entirely ours.
We may remove, edit, or refuse any content that violates these Terms or that we simply judge unsuitable for public listing.
8. Third-party content and accuracy
This is the section to read most carefully.
Qbeat displays headlines, brief excerpts, and links to material published by third parties. We don’t create, own, endorse, or verify that material. Any views expressed in it are the publisher’s, not ours.
Headlines and summaries on qbeat are generated automatically by software, including large language models. They may be inaccurate, incomplete, misleading, or wrong about who said or did what, even when the underlying source is accurate. Automated systems also group articles into stories and identify which source reported first, and they make mistakes at both.
Do not rely on qbeat as a source of fact. Always read the original source before acting on anything you see here. The service is provided for general information only and is not professional, financial, legal, medical, or security advice.
If you find an inaccurate headline, misattributed source, or wrongly grouped story, tell us at [email protected] and we will review it promptly and correct or remove it where warranted.
9. Publishers
We index and link to publicly available web content, displaying headlines, short excerpts, and attribution with a link to the original. We do not reproduce full articles.
If you are a publisher and want your site excluded, email [email protected] and we will remove it from our index and add it to our exclusion list. You don’t need to explain why. We also respect robots.txt.
Copyright complaints. If you believe material on qbeat.ai infringes your copyright, send a notice to [email protected] including: identification of the work, identification of the material and where it appears, your contact information, a statement of good-faith belief that the use is unauthorized, a statement under penalty of perjury that your notice is accurate and you’re authorized to act, and your signature. We will respond promptly.
10. Our intellectual property
The qbeat.ai name, design, software, and the arrangement and presentation of content are ours or our licensors’. These Terms grant you no rights to them beyond using the service as intended.
11. Termination
You may delete your account at any time from your settings.
We may suspend or terminate your account, with or without notice, if you violate these Terms, if we believe your use creates risk or legal exposure for us or other users, or if we discontinue the service.
On termination, your access ends and your topics stop running. We handle your data as described in the Privacy Policy. Sections 4 (as to the license for content you made public before termination), 8, 10, 12, 13, 14, and 15 survive.
12. Disclaimer of warranties
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE,” WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, ACCURACY, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.
We do not warrant that the service will be uninterrupted, secure, error-free, or that any content on it is accurate or complete. This is a personal project operated on a best-effort basis with no service level commitment.
13. Limitation of liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, SPECIAL, EXEMPLARY, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, GOODWILL, OR BUSINESS OPPORTUNITY, ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF OR INABILITY TO USE THE SERVICE — INCLUDING ANY DECISION YOU MAKE IN RELIANCE ON CONTENT DISPLAYED HERE.
OUR TOTAL AGGREGATE LIABILITY FOR ALL CLAIMS RELATING TO THE SERVICE WILL NOT EXCEED ONE HUNDRED US DOLLARS ($100).
Some jurisdictions don’t allow certain limitations, so parts of this section may not apply to you.
14. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Adam Rosenblum from any claim, liability, damage, or expense (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your content, your use of the service, or your violation of these Terms or of any third party’s rights.
15. Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules. Any dispute will be brought exclusively in the state or federal courts located in Los Angeles County, California, and you consent to their jurisdiction.
16. Changes
We may update these Terms. Material changes will be announced by email to registered users and by updating the effective date above. Continuing to use the service after a change means you accept the revised Terms. If you don’t accept them, stop using the service and delete your account.
17. General
If any provision is found unenforceable, the rest remains in effect. Our failure to enforce a provision isn’t a waiver of it. These Terms, with the Privacy Policy, are the entire agreement between us. You may not assign them; we may assign them in connection with a transfer of the service.
